So you've decided to mulch your garden. But what materials are used for mulch? There are many other non-organic and organic products available for use mulch to your garden. The important thing to remember is to put a layer of mulching material quite often so that keeps weeds from germinating and conserves soil moisture.
Another thing to remember is to keep the mulch from the base or main stem of the plant. This helps, snails and other pests to occupyLiving in a warm dark room next to your plants.
Fallen leaves in autumn is a free, rich material can your garden with mulch. You have found a tendency to mat down, so a way to rip or break them apart. You can use a wood chipper or shredder. If you do not have access to one of these, you can use on the floor in a scattered layer of 2-3 inches and mow over them with the mowers. Another way to break up, it is placed in a plastic bucket or trash can and go hardboldly after them with grass. Spread the chopped leaves in the fall of 2 to 3 inches thick.
Free mulch clippings are another. It 'best not to cut grass around your garden, as their decomposition process causes them to become hot enough to damage the plants. WoodChips are aesthetically attractive and decompose slowly. Some communities offer wood chips, and their citizens to free for the taking. Spread wood chips to a depth of 2 to 3 cm. Why steal nitrogen from the soil, fertilize the plants with high nitrogen fertilizers.
Buckwheat hulls are a good looking, keep moisture and decompose slowly. They can be expensive and can germinate and begin to grow. Spread them no more than two inches thick. You can blow around in strong wind or moveof rain.
Newspapers are another source of free mulch. Put them on the ground at least two layers thick. They will only last one season, but great job to suppress weeds. A good way for newspapers is used as fertilizer for them in the paths between the rows. Another way is to be worn under a mulch more aesthetic, but more expensive. You will be able to more expensive material with a thin layer to expand.
Whatever you choose, mulchwith, it's a long way to help your garden more productive and less work for you. And who would not want that?
